“America Expo 2011,” a U.S. college fair and seminar for Japanese young people interested in studying in the U.S. to be held on Saturday, July 30, in Tokyo, Japan. This event will be hosted by the U.S. Embassy (http://connectusa.jp/) in cooperation with JAFSA (Japan Network for International Education, www.jafsa.org) and USCANJ (U.S. College Alumni Network of Japan, www.uscanj.net). We are enlisting the support of alumni, admissions officers, and current students from top U.S. institutions to represent their schools to Japanese students, their parents, and others interested in learning about higher education opportunities in the U.S.
We expect at least 500 people to attend this annual event, which will feature a college fair and information seminars. The fair will have booths for university representatives and other organizations supporting study in the U.S. to engage with event participants and display their promotional materials. The information seminars will cover a variety of topics, including how to choose a school, the application process, financing an education, and career opportunities after graduation.
There is no charge to participate in this public event. The U.S. Embassy is providing this opportunity to all accredited U.S. institutions of higher education to promote our country as the premier destination for Japanese students interested in international education. You are welcome to participate by sending an official admissions officer and/or identifying an alumnus or current student to represent your institution. If you are interested in participating, please contact me at cole...@state.gov by Friday, June 10, so that we can prepare adequate space to accommodate you. Upon confirmation of your support, we will provide additional information and guidelines.
